Tomorrow is the first day of spring! Don’t you just love spring?!?! The days run a little longer and seem a bit brighter. New buds and new growth are emerging. Everything just seems so fresh and cheery. Some of you, depending on where you live may not have even experienced the first hint of spring yet. Don’t fret, my friends. It’s surly on it’s way. I have some tips for you to help bring spring into your home in the meantime.
- Fresh Flowers– you can find some really great deals on fresh flowers at places like Costco, Walmart, Aldi’s, Trader Joes, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. You don’t have to buy a lot and if you don’t have much in the budget buy one bunch and break it up and put into separate bud vases throughout your home. Another option is to buy potted flowers, such as orchids, bromeliads, and tulips that will last a little longer with a small amount of care.
- Faux Flowers-They make some really good faux flowers these days. I love faux flowers because they are a one time investment and they don’t die. I have bought some nice ones recently from both Hobby Lobby and Micheal’s.
- Colors Inspired by Nature– Lighten up your color palate in your home with the lighter and brighter colors that spring brings. Think greens, pinks, purples, yellows, whites, etc.
- Soft, Light, Textures– put away your heavy winter throws and pillows and exchange them for lighter fabrics and pillows.
- Fruit– Use fruit to decorate around your home. It looks bright, fresh, and colorful. It also serves dual purpose as decor and a snack. So fill your prettiest bowl or serving platter and brighten up your spaces.
- Spring Animals– Not the real ones, although, I suppose you could? Might get a bit messy though? I suggest figurines, prints, statues, etc. Think birds, eggs, nests, bunnies, and baby farm animals.
- Spring scents- light your favorite spring candle and fill your home with the scents of season. Try floral, fruity, or a light musky sent.
- Banners- The Target Dollar spot has been on point lately with their banner game so check to see what they have pre-made if that’s how you roll. It’s always a good idea to check out Etsy for stuff like this too. If you’re crafty you can make your own, Pinterest is always good for some inspiration.
- Wreaths- You can use them anywhere in your home but why not start with the front door? Welcoming your guests with the cheery spring goodness that waits for them inside. If you need some inspiration check out my post on spring wreath ideas here.
- Spring Centerpiece- Create or buy a spring centerpiece for your dining room or kitchen table. It can just be a grouping of spring items styled together on a tray or table runner. A simple floral bouquet or a spring styled lantern.
What else do you all do to decorate your homes for spring? I’d love to hear and see your ideas. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Spring!
