So, this fun DIY print all came to be on a lovely afternoon stroll down the paper aisle at Hobby Lobby. I spotted this amazing 12X12 metallic deer print on black and white stripes. I immediately fell in love because I adore pretty much all things shiny and I absolutely cannot walk away from anything that is black and white. I’m just drawn to it like a moth to a flame, folks. I don’t know why! So I put a couple of pieces of that paper in my cart and off I went to see what other amazing treasures were lurking in those aisles. The whole time I was brainstorming about what I was to do with this paper. Then I spotted a canvas print with a deer with ornaments hanging from its antlers and that print inspired this handsome dapper dear print. I think he turned out really awesome. He can be customized to match your christmas colors of choice and this project only took about ten minutes. Winning!!!
Here is the Paper. Look at that shiny gold and those awesome bold black and white stripes. So cute, right?! It only cost $1.99.
I also purchased some bows that were also $1.99. However, you could easily make your own with wrapping paper or any scrap paper you have.
Here are some of the other items I used for the project. A 2 inch hole punch (you don’t need this you can use a bottle cap and trace and cut your circles to make the ornaments that will hang from Mr. Deer’s antlers.) A glue stick and/or a hot glue gun. Scrap paper or wrapping paper of your choice to make the ornaments. A gold or silver pen to draw the string that will be attached to the ornaments.
Ok, First step is to trim the sticky part of the back of the bow. I ended up taking mine completely off and just gluing it because it was taking me longer to get the dumb backing off of the bow then it would for me to actually do the entire project.
Next, cut your ornaments you will need four. You can make these as fancy as you want with layers and designs. I kept mine pretty simple. Now, Place them where you want but be careful to pay attention and remember that you need a draw a line up to the antler from the ornament that represents the string. Once you have that figured out, draw your line using a ruler down to where you want the ornament to meet. Then glue your ornament down.
Do the same thing on the opposite side so Mr. Deer looks like this. You are now complete with your print. You can glue your print on a piece of wood and add a frame or he fits PERFECTLY in to a Ribba 19 3/4 x 19 3/4 frame from IKEA. I think they cost around $14.99 and come in black and white.
